Studio 18

COMPANY: Studio 18

CREATIVE DIRECTOR: Jean-Marc Cafà

Studio 18 was set up in light of Malta’s successful bid to host European Capital of Culture in 2018. Since its inception, the Studio has created work such as #babydaddy, Once Upon a Time, The Brat and That, and run a multitude of workshops locally and overseas.

In order for youths to be able to contribute to this journey and furthermore the development of the arts industry and the creative economy, it is crucial that young people understand that culture is not about the theatre or the ballet but first and foremost about our identity – as individuals, as members of the community and as European Citizens. This does not only entail a keen sense of creativity, but also social responsibility, awareness, values, and commitment.

Studio 18 activities range from youth projects to individual mentorship, consultancy and services to schools, collaborations with other creative enterprises and ultimately, the Creative Lab. The organisation’s unique position at The Box in Mosta allows its members to thrive, collaborate, feed off a host of arts entities which are also resident at this space; this environment is an invaluable stimulus!

Studio 18, an organisation for informal learning registered by the NCFHE Malta, was founded by Creative Director Jean-Marc Cafà, who, in consultation with the Board of Creative Associates, has managed the implementation of a number of  highly successful programmes to date.
